Tattoo Aftercare Products.
Aftercare is two steps, not one. Clean the treated area first, then apply a healing product. Most tattoo care products sold online are healing products only — no cleanser, no guidance on which to use when. This range covers both.
Clean first, then heal.
After unwrapping, the skin carries what the session left behind. That needs removing before a healing product goes on. An antibacterial tattoo soap handles the first step. A healing balm or ointment handles the second. The sequence matters — healing products applied to uncleaned skin trap what should have been washed off.
The same routine applies to cosmetic procedures that leave the skin in a treated state. Microneedling, semi-permanent makeup, and similar treatments follow the same principle. Timing and frequency for cosmetic work should follow practitioner guidance.
Product guide
Remove your wrap or covering. Pump foam onto the treated area and massage gently for twenty seconds. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean paper towel — never rub. Use after every session and during the first few days of healing whenever the area needs cleaning. Most clients find two to three washes a day in the first few days, reducing as healing progresses. The cleanser is antibacterial — it clears what accumulates on the skin during a tattoo or cosmetic procedure so the healing product can do its job on clean skin.
Aftercare Foam CleanserOnce the skin is clean and dry, apply a thin layer of the Aftercare Balm to the treated area. Thin is the word that matters — too much product suffocates the skin, traps moisture, and slows recovery. A light coating that absorbs within a few minutes is right. Apply two to three times daily through the first week. The balm is fragrance-free, formulated for post-tattoo skin, and provides barrier protection while the skin repairs itself. It is the primary healing product in the range.
Aftercare BalmThe same Fougera ointment most studios hand out after a session. A lighter option for clients who prefer a thinner layer or who have used this product before and trust it. Apply a thin coat after cleaning. The ointment provides a petroleum-based barrier with vitamins A and D to support the skin through the early hours of healing. Packaged as a four-pack — one tube per session, ready to go.
Vitamin A & D OintmentFrequently asked questions
A tattoo aftercare soap and a healing product. The soap clears what the session leaves on the skin. The healing product — whether you call it a tattoo aftercare cream, balm, or ointment — supports recovery. Both, in that order.
A set that covers post-session care. The Totally Numb aftercare range includes the Aftercare Foam Cleanser, the Aftercare Balm, and the Vitamin A & D Ointment.
Two to three times a day for the first few days. After each wash, pat dry and apply a thin layer of healing product. Reduce the frequency as the skin settles — once peeling begins, one wash a day is usually enough.
The cleansing step applies to any treatment that leaves the skin in a worked state. The healing products were developed for tattooed skin. For cosmetic procedures, your practitioner's aftercare instructions take priority — the cleaning principle is the same, the specifics may differ.
Same job — moisture and barrier support during healing. Balm has a richer texture. Most people search for 'tattoo aftercare cream' as the category term. The Aftercare Balm is the product that does the work.
Some clients use the Vitamin A & D Ointment for the first day or two and then switch to the Aftercare Balm for the remainder of healing. Others use the balm from the start. Either approach works — the important thing is a thin layer, applied consistently.
