Clean the tattooed area first with Aftercare Foam Cleanser or a gentle wash. Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Apply a thin layer of balm — a little goes a long way. Reapply 2–3 times daily during healing, always to clean skin.
When should I start using Aftercare Balm?
Begin using it once your tattoo has been unwrapped and cleaned for the first time — typically a few hours after your session, or the following morning depending on your artist's instructions.
How long should I use it for?
Continue applying 2 to 3 times daily throughout the healing period, which typically lasts 2 to 4 weeks. Your skin will tell you when it no longer needs moisturising support — once the area feels healed and the skin has settled, you can stop.
Should I clean the tattoo before applying?
Always. Clean the tattooed area with Aftercare Foam Cleanser or a gentle wash, pat dry, then apply the balm. Applying to uncleaned skin can trap bacteria against the healing tattoo.
Can I use Aftercare Balm on older tattoos?
Yes. It works as a moisturiser for healed tattoos too, helping to keep the skin hydrated and the ink looking fresh.
Is Aftercare Balm the same as Vitamin A & D Ointment?
No. Both are healing products but they are different formulations. Aftercare Balm is our own-brand healing balm. Vitamin A & D Ointment is a Fougera product with a lanolin and petrolatum base. Either can be used as part of your healing routine.
