Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin once or twice daily. Take a small amount from the jar with clean fingers and work it in until it has absorbed — the skin should feel conditioned, not coated.
During the tail end of healing, use it in place of a heavier balm once the skin has closed and stopped flaking. After that, keep it as a daily routine on any tattooed area.
When do I switch from Aftercare Balm to this?
Once the tattoo has stopped flaking and the skin has closed. A balm is the heavier product for the wound-healing stage; the moisturiser is the lighter one for skin that has recovered and now needs maintaining.
Can I use it on a fresh tattoo?
Stay on your healing routine while the tattoo is open — clean with Tattoo Cleansing Bar or Aftercare Foam Cleanser, then apply Aftercare Balm. Bring the moisturiser in as healing finishes.
How often should I use it?
Once or twice a day is enough for most people. Skin that runs dry, or tattooed areas that get a lot of sun and washing such as hands and forearms, may want it twice.
Does it help older tattoos?
Hydrated skin reads clearer than dry skin, so keeping the area moisturised helps older work look better maintained. It conditions the skin rather than altering the ink.
What is the difference between this and Tattoo Highlighting Oil?
The moisturiser is the daily maintenance step. The oil is a finishing step used over the top when you want the tattoo to show at its best. They are designed to be used together, not as alternatives.
Can I use it on skin that is not tattooed?
Yes. It is a general moisturiser — the formulation is aimed at tattooed skin, but nothing about it restricts it to those areas.
